Just a quick update. I just started my new job today. There is a car dealership at the south end of Carlisle - literally, the first business establishment you come to driving from our house into town. They advertised for a sales person and I thought I would check it out just because of the proximity to home. It turned out that they had been looking for an accountant. I had my choice - go home eat lunch and come back and start today, or start tomorrow morning. It's a lot of cleaning up work at this point and will offer me whatever overtime I want at time and a half. (yeah!) But eventually it should be a cakewalk job and my boss says it can be mother's hours - just working during the school day.

Our neighbor brought over an application from the Millhouse that he works for and talked to his boss about work for David. He said they do need someone and David will be following up on that lead. Our neighbor also said if David goes to work, I should talk to his wife about doing childcare for us. That would be too good to be true if that worked out.

Anyway, major stress relief here knowing we have a paycheck coming in again. Please keep us in prayer that we figure out this whole working/childcare thing.

Grace and peace to you!

 Under the Iowan Sun

So much has been going on here. Last week a historic steam engine came through Des Moines and then through Carlisle. We took the kids to see it since Trinity loves the movie Polar Express. We actually enjoyed it as much as Trinity did! It was really cool to see it start up with all the steam coming out. What we didn't expect was how LOUD it was!

Sunday night we went to Music in the Park followed by fireworks in Indianola. It was a lot of fun. Trinity danced to the music and was fascinated by the fireworks. It was a really beautiful setting too. They shot off the fireworks on the hillside opposite the park across a wide valley. Everytime the fireworks lit up the sky, this idylic country scene was in view.

We explored a back way to our house the other day and discovered even more scenic countryside. I have decided that we won't need to go visit the Tuscan region of Italy - we have scenery as lovely right in our own backyard now. :) I plan on taking the camera sometime and going out in the evening light and try to capture some of the beauty. I'll post if I get some good shots.

We see so much wildlife all the time now. Just in one day we saw a couple of fawn, an owl, an opposum, a pheasant, and the regular plethora of bunnies. Trinity is loving keeping an eye out for the latest critter to cross our path.

The latest prayer request is for David. He has a job interview tomorrow morning with a company called Granite Transformations. He would be fabricating granite countertops. The company doesn't replace counters - they just cover the existing counters with 1/4" granite pieces. It makes for a cheaper way for people to get granite countertops. Seems like it would be a lucrative business these days.

Back to playing with the kids and trying to unpack boxes along the way. :p

Grace and peace be with you!
